Childcare Apprenticeship Standards Update

Written by Alex Rincon | Apr 25, 2018 11:43:00 AM

With the introduction of apprenticeship ‘standards’ replacing all apprenticeship frameworks, Children and Young People’s Workforce Level 3 Standards are at an ‘agreed subject to certain conditions’ stage according to Nursery World.

The main reason behind this ‘pending’ status is due to the fact that the assessment plan is yet to be finalised and the funding band must be assigned.

The suggested funding band currently being considered falls within the range of £6000 - £8000, a notable increase from the previous £2500 framework. The benefits of standards for employers and learners include Food Hygiene and Paediatric First Aid certification and IT in Early Years as well as a re-designed more in-depth apprenticeship programme.

Although no specific date has been given, the idea is for the standards to go live between mid and late 2018.
