Hello, my name is Karishma Lal and I am a childcare tutor/assessor at Hawk Training. I have been tutoring and assessing the Level 2 and Level 3 childcare qualifications for the past three years.

I have achieved a 1st Class BA Honours degree in Early Years and Education and hold over six years’ experience as a nursery practitioner where I supported a team of Early Years professionals to ensure high standards of care, teaching and learning.

I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience of the early years with others to support them to achieve their qualifications through apprenticeships to deliver the best early years practice!

Early years apprenticeships have evolved over the years, not only in the way they are delivered to learners and employers but also the movement from framework to the standard more recently. This has allowed for apprentices to develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours throughout their apprenticeship and showcase this during the End Point Assessment. There is even now an opportunity for learners to aim for higher grades such as a distinction which gives learners the motivation to work harder.

I am personally really excited about the Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner qualification as this will be a huge step up for early years apprenticeships! The Level 5 qualification will enable those more senior early years practitioners to develop their knowledge and skills to skilfully lead day to day practice to really make a difference within their place of work. This will also mean that we will have more highly qualified practitioners in our early years settings to teach and care for our children. Upon completion of the Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner, learners will have the opportunity to progress onto degree level qualifications.

Hawk Training is an outstanding provider and our early years sector is thriving! I believe we are the best provider to deliver the Level 5 Early Years practitioner as we put learners and employers at the heart of everything we do. We have highly trained and qualified early years practitioners to deliver the Level 5 and to support you on your journey!
